The technology landscape is evolving faster than ever. New tools, emerging paradigms, and transformative challenges are reshaping how teams build, deliver, and think about software. At Eureka Labs, we see this not as a threat but as an opportunity to amplify what we do best: think critically, build fast, and enjoy the work we do together.
Importantly, this opportunity extends to everyone on our team. Whether or not someone is directly involved in AI projects, we want every person at Eureka Labs to stay current with AI developments and leverage them to enhance their work. In this context, we believe the best way forward is to become cyborgs—integrating cutting-edge AI capabilities into our daily work while keeping humans at the center.
The best asset we have is our people, and the goal of our AI initiatives is to empower them: to make them faster, smarter, and more effective, without losing sight of the craft, empathy, and curiosity that define us.
A New Stage for Eureka Labs
Scaling a team beyond a hundred people is a milestone that comes with both excitement and responsibility. We’re no longer a small, informal team where alignment happens organically. At the same time, we’re not so large that personal connection is impossible. This in-between stage demands structured thinking: clear processes, shared understanding, and a culture that moves at the speed of innovation while keeping humans at the core.
Introducing AI into this environment amplifies the challenge. AI is fast-moving, hyped, and often misunderstood. Without a thoughtful approach, teams risk misalignment, miscommunication, and lost opportunities. That’s why we approached our AI program not just as a technical initiative, but as a company-wide evolution. A stage in Eureka Labs’ journey rather than a standalone program.
Building AI Capability: The Program
Over two months, an interdisciplinary team worked on designing a structured plan for integrating AI across the company. Our focus was threefold: enhance our software development framework, ensure responsible AI adoption, and accelerate skills development for every role.
1. AI-Augmented Software Development Lifecycle
At the heart of our approach is our AI-augmented Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). By integrating AI into every phase of software development—planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance—we create a framework that improves quality, accelerates delivery, and keeps our growth partners’ expectations at the center.
This isn’t about blindly applying AI; it’s about thoughtful augmentation. AI helps us streamline repetitive tasks, generate insights, and explore possibilities faster, while humans remain the decision-makers, the creators, and the curators of quality.
2. AI Usage Policy
A structured approach requires clear rules. Our AI Usage Policy applies to every team member, no matter their role. It defines how we use generative AI tools, coding assistants, autonomous agents, and other AI systems responsibly and strategically.
Crucially, it’s not just a document, it became part of our culture. All new hires are introduced to the policy during onboarding, and all current team members formally acknowledge their commitment. This ensures a shared understanding, promotes ethical practices, and aligns the team around common goals.
3. AI Skills Acceleration Plan
Finally, we designed an AI Skills Acceleration Plan to ensure every member of Eureka Labs can thrive in an AI-powered environment. This includes:
AI Fundamentals for All Roles: a shared foundation covering core AI concepts, responsible use, data security, and prompt engineering.
Role-Specific Reskilling Paths: we propose tailored reskilling paths for the different roles in the company, facilitating the transition from current roles to future ones. This ensures everyone can adapt, grow, and fully leverage AI in their careers.
Through these tracks, we aim to turn curiosity into capability, helping team members see AI not as a threat, but as a lever to enhance their work and their career potential.
Empathy at the Core
No AI program—well, no program at all—succeeds without human empathy. We mapped concerns and uncertainties across the team: what AI means for roles, workflows, and professional growth, and built the program to address them directly. Our empathy map ensures that technical and cultural alignment go hand in hand.
People understand the role of AI in their future, feel heard, and recognize opportunities instead of threats. In the words of Belén Davil, the program's Project Manager:
From the very beginning, it was clear that people feel the need to keep up with change. Learning new skills, breaking barriers and old habits, facing challenges, and, most importantly, engaging with the new paradigm of AI that is already shaping everyone's lives.
Channeling that energy through the program has been incredibly powerful. It allows us to harness the natural curiosity and drive to learn that people have not just professionally, but personally. And in doing so, we not only help them grow as professionals but also strengthen their connection with Eureka.
More Than a Program: A Mindset Shift
The AI initiatives at Eureka Labs are not a box to check. They’re now part of a mindset that will carry us forward. We want to keep our teams curious, confident, and capable. We want to amplify human potential through AI while safeguarding the craft, creativity, and empathy that make our work meaningful.
Putting the Foundation to Work
We’ve built the framework, the policies, and the skills programs. Now it’s time to put them into practice. This is a stage in our company’s evolution where action matters more than aspiration. By integrating AI thoughtfully and purposefully, we’re elevating our capacity, improving delivery, and preparing our teams to tackle what comes next, together.
AI is powerful, but our people are the true differentiator. Becoming cyborgs means evolving: together, faster, and more human than ever.
